This FREE ‘Purposes of Media: Brainstorm Activity’ worksheet is a perfect addition to a Media Literacy unit as a stand-alone activity, a center task, or a bellringer.

For this activity, students brainstorm as many media forms as they can (e.g. novels, Instagram posts, Netflix series) and sort them into three categories according to the purpose of the text type. They must decide whether each text type is designed to:
